Workshop Program
Part 1: Scanning Film with a Digital Camera
A demonstration of how to digitally scan black & white film using a camera and professional scanning setup.
We’ll look at how to capture clean, detailed scans that preserve the full tonal range of your negatives.
Part 2: Post-Production — From Negative to Final Image
Using a raw scan, Mark will guide you through the digital darkroom process — showing how to convert, refine, and perfect a black & white image ready for print or digital display.
Part 3: Hands-On Editing
You’ll edit your own film scan with individual guidance from Mark.
This is a practical, creative session designed to help you develop a personal approach to black & white post-production while preparing your image for print.
Part 4: Critique & Fine Art Printing
We’ll review each student’s final image in a supportive critique session, followed by a professional printing demonstration on the studio’s fine art printer.
Each student will leave with an A4 Giclée print of their finished photograph.
Part 5: Q&A
An open discussion where you can ask about scanning, editing, printing, or any part of the analog-to-digital workflow.
